Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (1656–1680), the first Native American saint, was a Mohawk-Algonquin woman from modern-day USA/Canada, known as the “Lily of the Mohawks.” Canonized in 2012, her ascetic life and devotion inspire North America’s indigenous Catholics.
