Blessed Aimo Taparelli
Blessed Aimo Taparelli (born c. 1395 AD in Savigliano, Piedmont, Italy; died August 15, 1495 AD in Savigliano, Piedmont, Italy) was a Dominican friar from Piedmont who served as theologian, inquisitor, and papal nuncio under several popes in the 15th century. He was a learned defender of orthodoxy and papal authority during the era of the Conciliarist controversy. He was beatified by Pope Pius IX in 1856. His feast day is August 15.

Biography
Aimo Taparelli was born c. 1395 in Savigliano, Piedmont, to a noble family. He entered the Dominican Order and became a distinguished theologian and preacher.
He served as a theological expert and papal nuncio under several popes in the 15th century, working in the context of the Conciliarist controversy — the theological dispute over whether Church councils held supreme authority over the pope. Taparelli was a consistent defender of papal primacy.
He was known for austere personal poverty and holiness combined with energetic active ministry. He returned to Savigliano in his old age and died there on August 15, 1495 — the feast of the Assumption — at approximately 100 years of age, interpreted as a special sign of divine and Marian favor.
He was beatified by Pope Pius IX on October 10, 1856.
