Blessed Juliana Puricelli
Blessed Juliana Puricelli (Italian: Giuliana Puricelli; born 1427 AD in Busto Arsizio, Lombardy, Italy; died August 15, 1501 AD at the Sacro Monte di Varese, Lombardy, Italy) was an Italian religious, a companion of Blessed Catherine of Pallanza and co-foundress of the community of Ambrosian nuns (the Romite Ambrosiane) on the Sacro Monte above Varese. She is venerated as a Blessed. Her feast day is observed on August 15.
Drawn to a life of solitude and penance, Juliana joined Catherine of Pallanza in her hermitage on the mountain of Varese, where together they gathered a community of nuns under the Rule of Saint Ambrose. Her cult was confirmed in 1769.

Biography
Giuliana Puricelli was born in 1427 at Busto Arsizio in Lombardy, Italy, into a family of modest circumstances. Left in difficult conditions, she worked as a servant, but from her youth she was drawn to prayer and penance and desired to give herself wholly to God.
She was attracted by the reputation of Blessed Catherine of Pallanza, a holy woman who lived as a hermit in a rocky solitude on the mountain above Varese. Juliana joined her there, and the two women lived together a life of extreme austerity, prayer, and penance.
In time other women came to share their life, and a community grew up. With the encouragement of the Church, Catherine and Juliana organized this community into a religious house on the Sacro Monte di Varese, adopting the Rule associated with Saint Ambrose; the sisters became known as the Ambrosian nuns, or Romite Ambrosiane. Juliana served the community humbly, and after the death of Catherine of Pallanza she continued in the life of the sanctuary.
Juliana Puricelli died at the Sacro Monte di Varese on August 15, 1501. She was venerated as a Blessed, and her cult was confirmed in 1769 by Pope Clement XIV. Her feast is observed on August 15.
