Establishment
The Diocese of Foz do Iguaçu was erected on 10 May 1978 by Pope Paul VI through the papal bull "Cum Ecclesia Catholica", carving territory from the Diocese of Guarapuava and the Diocese of Toledo to serve the rapidly growing Catholic communities in western Paraná.
History
The diocese developed quickly after its founding amid the expansion of agricultural settlements and the growth of tourism around Iguaçu Falls.
