Establishment
The Diocese of Guarapuava was erected on 16 December 1965 by Pope Paul VI from territory previously belonging to the Archdiocese of Curitiba and the Diocese of Ponta Grossa, to better serve the expanding Catholic population in the interior of Paraná.
History
