Saint Clement Mary Hofbauer
Saint Clement Mary Hofbauer (born December 26, 1751 AD in Tasnowitz (modern Tasovice), Moravia (modern Czech Republic); died March 15, 1820 AD in Vienna, Austria) was a Redemptorist priest, baker's apprentice, hermit, and the great apostle of Vienna — the man primarily responsible for the revival of Catholicism in Central Europe after the devastation of Josephinism and the French Revolutionary period. He was canonized by Pope Pius X in 1909. His feast day is March 15.

Biography
John Hofbauer was born December 26, 1751, in Tasnowitz (modern Tasovice), Moravia, the seventh of twelve children of a butcher. He worked as a baker's apprentice. Feeling a call to religious life, he twice spent time as a hermit near Rome (1780–1783). He joined the Redemptorists, was ordained in 1785, and traveled to Warsaw in 1787.
For 20 years he ran the mission of Saint Benno in Warsaw — a school for 500 children, a hospital, an orphanage, and active preaching. The mission was a major Redemptorist apostolate in northern Europe. He was arrested multiple times by successive authorities and finally expelled by Napoleon's reorganization of Europe in 1808.
He moved to Vienna and spent the last 12 years of his life rebuilding Catholicism in the Austrian capital after the Josephinist devastation. He gathered around him a remarkable circle of Catholic intellectuals — Friedrich Schlegel, Clemens Brentano, and others — who represented the German Romantic Catholic revival.
He died March 15, 1820, in Vienna. He was canonized by Pope Pius X in 1909 as the "Apostle of Vienna."
