Establishment
The Diocese of Ponta Grossa was established on 10 May 1926 by Pope Pius XI through the apostolic constitution "Quo Divino" to serve the growing Catholic population in the interior of Paraná, separating territory from the Archdiocese of Curitiba.
History
The diocese developed steadily after its founding, with the construction of its cathedral and expansion of parishes amid the agricultural growth of the region. Boundary adjustments occurred in later decades as new dioceses were erected nearby.
