Blessed Johann Nepomuk von Tschiderer (born April 15, 1777 AD in Glurns (Glorenza), South Tyrol, Austria (now Italy); died December 3, 1860 AD in Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy) was an Austrian Catholic bishop who served as Prince-Bishop of Trento (Trent) from 1834 to 1860, known for his pastoral zeal, humility, care for the poor, and defense of the faith during a period of political upheaval. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 30, 1995. His feast day is December 3.

Biography
Johann Nepomuk von Tschiderer was born April 15, 1777, in Glurns (Glorenza), in the Vinschgau valley of South Tyrol, then part of the Austrian Empire. He came from a noble Tyrolean family and was baptized in honor of Saint John Nepomuk, the patron of Bohemia and of the Habsburg lands.
Ordained a priest, he rose through the Church in the Tyrol and Trentino, becoming Bishop of Sanzeno and Auxiliary Bishop of Trento in 1827. In 1834 he was appointed Prince-Bishop of Trento, a see made famous by the Council of Trent (1545-1563), and served in that role until his death.
His episcopate of twenty-six years spanned the revolutions of 1848, the Risorgimento, and the Austrian-Piedmontese-French war of 1859. Through all this political upheaval he remained a humble and pastoral bishop: known for his simplicity, long hours in the confessional, care for the poor and sick, defense of the Church, and formation of clergy. His motto was "humility."
He died December 3, 1860, in Trento. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 30, 1995. His feast day is December 3.
