History
Theological College describes itself as having "a rich history of over a century of service," having prepared generations of priests to serve the Church.
Campus and Formation
Theological College is located in Washington, D.C., adjacent to The Catholic University of America, and follows the Sulpician tradition of seminary formation. Its formation program addresses the human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral dimensions of priestly formation, drawing on the requirements of the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis for personal and communal accompaniment of each seminarian. Each seminarian works with both a spiritual director (internal forum) and a formation advisor (external forum). The formation faculty collectively brings some 150 years of experience to the program. Seminarian life includes liturgy and prayer, the TC Schola and Music Program, and access to the pastoral and academic resources of Washington, D.C. The community is made up of seminarians from 22–28 dioceses throughout the United States, along with student priests returning to complete graduate degrees at Catholic University.
Academics
Theological College offers the Basselin Program, a Pre-Theology Program, a Theology Program, and Spanish Culture and Studies. Seminarians and student priests affiliated with Theological College may pursue an S.T.L. or J.C.L. degree through The Catholic University of America. Admission is limited to seminarians sponsored by a diocese or archdiocese who have been working with a vocations director and approved by their bishop; admission inquiries are directed to the Office of the Rector.
Current Status
Theological College remains in operation as the national seminary of The Catholic University of America, serving seminarians from 22–28 U.S. dioceses. The seminary publishes a community magazine, The Crossroads, distributed to alumni, friends, bishops, and vocations directors with news about the seminary and its students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
