McDonald for a parish to call their own in Ashdown.[3] Among the parish's founders were Bill Stringer, a former superintendent of Ashdown public schools; Vince Massanelli, an insurance agent; and Dr. Robert Dalby, a local physician.[4]

The diocese arranged for construction of the current church building, a rectangular steel structure surfaced in brick, near the intersection of Arkansas Highway 32 East and 32B.[5] The parish has been described by the diocesan press as one of the smallest Catholic missions in the Diocese of Little Rock, with membership numbering around thirty active parishioners in recent years.[6] No confirmed record of a formal parish elevation date beyond its 1991 founding is documented in available sources.
