Saint Quadratus of Athens
Saint Quadratus of Athens (born c. 70 AD; died c. 130 AD in Athens, Greece) was an early Christian apologist and Bishop of Athens who presented the first known written defense of Christianity to a Roman emperor — an Apology addressed to Emperor Hadrian c. 125 AD. He is one of the Apostolic Fathers in the broad sense, representing the generation that bridged the Apostolic era and the classical Age of the Apologists. His feast day is May 26 in the Roman Rite.

Biography
Quadratus of Athens is one of the earliest known Christian apologists. He served as Bishop of Athens and addressed an Apology to Emperor Hadrian c. 125 AD — the first known written Christian defense presented to a Roman emperor.
Only a fragment of the Apology survives, preserved by Eusebius of Caesarea (Ecclesiastical History IV.3.2). In it, Quadratus argues that the miracles of Jesus were witnessed by people still alive in his own day, providing living testimony to their truth.
He is considered a founder of the genre of Christian apologetics — the intellectual defense of Christianity addressed to non-Christians — that would include Justin Martyr, Athenagoras, Tertullian, and Origen.
