Saint John of Lodi
Saint John of Lodi (born c. 1025 AD in Lodi, Lombardy, Italy; died September 7, 1106 AD in Gubbio, Umbria, Italy) was an Italian Benedictine monk, disciple and biographer of Saint Peter Damian, and eventually Bishop of Gubbio. His Life of Peter Damian is the primary biographical source for that great reformer. He later became a Cardinal and played a role in the reform movement centered around Peter Damian and the Gregorian Reform. His feast day is September 7.

Biography
John of Lodi was born around 1025 in Lodi, Lombardy. He entered the hermitage of Fonte Avellana in the Apennines around 1042, placing himself under the direction of Saint Peter Damian — the great monastic reformer and one of the most powerful voices of the 11th-century Gregorian Reform. John lived under Peter Damian's direction for many years, eventually becoming one of his most trusted disciples.
He wrote a Life of Peter Damian that remains the primary biographical source for that saint — an invaluable historical document for understanding the early Gregorian Reform. He continued his hermit life at Fonte Avellana and other communities.
In the later part of his life he was created a Cardinal by Pope Gregory VII (c. 1078) and played a role in the reform movement. He was appointed Bishop of Gubbio around 1103 by Pope Paschal II and governed the diocese until his death on September 7, 1106.
