Saint Jane Antide Thouret
Saint Jane Antide Thouret (born November 27, 1765 AD in Sancey-le-Long, Franche-Comté, France; died August 24, 1826 AD in Naples, Italy) was a French founder of the Sisters of Charity of Besançon (also known as the Sisters of Charity under the Protection of Saint Vincent de Paul), a congregation dedicated to caring for the poor, sick, and uneducated — especially during and after the chaos of the French Revolution. She was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1934. Her feast day is August 24.

Biography
Jeanne Antide Thouret was born on November 27, 1765 in Sancey-le-Long, Doubs, France. She entered the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul in Paris in 1787 but was expelled during the French Revolution when religious congregations were suppressed (1793).
During the Terror she worked in secret, nursing the sick and educating the poor in her home region. Expelled from France, she worked in Switzerland and Germany. After the Revolution subsided, she returned to Besançon and in 1799 founded a new congregation — the Sisters of Charity under the Protection of Saint Vincent de Paul (later called Sisters of Charity of Besançon) — with the same mission of caring for the sick and educating the poor.
The congregation grew rapidly. She opened free schools and hospitals and eventually expanded to Italy at the invitation of the Kingdom of Naples. Her final years were marked by painful ecclesiastical disputes over the governance of her congregation, which she navigated with faith and perseverance, eventually receiving papal confirmation of her constitutions.
She died in Naples on August 24, 1826. Pope Pius XI beatified her in 1926 and canonized her in 1934.
