Saint Hermogenes
Saint Hermogenes (died c. 304 AD in Alexandria, Egypt) was a Roman officer and martyr at Alexandria who was converted to Christianity by witnessing the courage of Saint Peter of Alexandria and the young martyr Phileas. He was put to death during the Diocletianic Persecution. He is venerated in both Eastern and Western Churches. His feast day is December 10 (with Saints Mennas and Eugraphus).

Biography
Hermogenes was a Roman officer or official in Alexandria during the Great Persecution of Diocletian (303–312 AD). According to his Passio, he was charged with overseeing the examination or punishment of Christian prisoners. While carrying out these duties, he witnessed the courage and faith of Christian martyrs — their serenity in the face of death, their refusal to renounce their faith under torture — and was moved to conversion.
He declared himself a Christian and was immediately arrested. He was beheaded at Alexandria on December 10, c. 304 AD. He is commemorated together with Saints Mennas and Eugraphus, with whom he is listed in the Roman Martyrology on December 10.
He is venerated in both the Eastern (Coptic, Greek Orthodox) and Western Catholic Churches.
