Saint Helladius
Saint Helladius (died c. 632 AD in Toledo, Spain) was Archbishop of Toledo and one of the most important ecclesiastical figures in Visigothic Spain. He was a royal official who renounced his position to become a monk at the Abbey of Agali near Toledo, eventually becoming its abbot before being appointed Archbishop of Toledo (615–632 AD). He was a mentor of Saint Ildefonsus of Toledo, who later became one of the greatest theologians of the Visigothic Church. His feast day is February 18.

Biography
Helladius was born in Toledo, the capital of Visigothic Spain, to a distinguished family. He rose to a high position in the royal Visigothic administration. At some point — motivated by a spiritual conversion — he renounced this career and entered the Abbey of Agali near Toledo, one of the most intellectually distinguished monasteries in Visigothic Spain.
He progressed through the monastic life and became abbot of Agali. During his abbacy he received and formed the young Ildefonsus (later Saint Ildefonsus of Toledo), who would become the most celebrated Marian theologian of the early medieval West. Ildefonsus's own writings acknowledge Helladius as a formative influence.
Around 615 AD Helladius was appointed Archbishop of Toledo — the Primatial See of all Spain and the most important ecclesiastical position in the Visigothic kingdom. He governed the archdiocese until his death on February 18, 632 AD.
He was succeeded in Toledo by his disciple Justus, and eventually (after several successions) by Ildefonsus — the student he had formed at Agali.
