Saint Giulia Salzano
Blessed Giulia Salzano (born October 13, 1846 AD in Casoria, Naples, Italy; died May 17, 1929 AD in Casoria, Naples, Italy) was an Italian Catechist Sister and founder of the Congregation of the Catechist Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, dedicated to teaching the faith to children and the poor. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2001. Her feast day is May 17.

Biography
Giulia Salzano was born on October 13, 1846, in Casoria, a town north of Naples. Her father was a military officer. She showed gifts for teaching from an early age and became a schoolteacher, working in Casoria for decades as a teacher in the public and parochial schools.
Her passion for the catechetical formation of children — particularly the poorest and most neglected — led her to found, in 1905, the Congregation of the Catechist Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her congregation was dedicated to a simple but essential mission: making the faith alive for those who had never been properly taught it, especially children in working-class Naples and its surrounding towns.
She governed her congregation for 24 years until her death on May 17, 1929. She died at the motherhouse in Casoria, the same town where she had been born 82 years earlier. Pope John Paul II beatified her on April 27, 2003.
