- Saint Ebba of Coldingham (died c. 683 AD) — Abbess of Coldingham on the Northumbrian coast; sister of King Oswald and King Oswy of Northumbria; the double monastery at Coldingham was a center of religious life but became lax after her death; feast day August 25.
- Saint Ebba of Coldingham the Younger (died c. 870 AD) — Abbess of Coldingham who, when Vikings raided the monastery, disfigured herself and her nuns to preserve their chastity (cutting off their noses and upper lips); all the nuns were then killed by the raiders; feast day August 23.
