Saint Colman of Cloyne
Saint Colman of Cloyne (born c. 522 AD in Munster, Ireland; died c. 606 AD in Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland) was an Irish poet, royal bard, and bishop who converted to Christianity through the influence of Saint Brendan the Navigator and became the first Bishop of Cloyne. He is the patron saint of the Diocese of Cloyne. His feast day is November 24.

Biography
Colman was born around 522 AD in Munster. He served as the royal bard and poet of the King of Munster — a prestigious role in early Irish society, since bards were the keepers of genealogy, history, and oral tradition. He encountered Saint Brendan the Navigator and, moved by his preaching, converted to Christianity. He studied under Brendan and was eventually ordained bishop.
He became the first Bishop of Cloyne (Cluain Uamha — "meadow of the cave") in County Cork. He evangelized the surrounding region and organized the early church at Cloyne. The medieval Round Tower that still stands at Cloyne (near the cathedral) is from the later medieval period, but marks the ancient monastic site. The round tower at Cloyne is one of the best-preserved in Ireland.
He died around 606 AD and was buried at Cloyne. He is the patron of the Diocese of Cloyne, which was later merged into the Diocese of Cork and Ross. His feast day is November 24.
