Saint Castulus
Saint Castulus (died March 26, 286 AD in Rome, Italy) was a Roman court official under the Emperor Diocletian who secretly converted to Christianity and helped shelter Christians in the imperial palace. He was betrayed by an apostate, tortured, and buried alive. He is one of the early Roman martyrs and patron of the ancient Roman catacombs that bear his name. His feast day is March 26.

Biography
Saint Castulus held an official position in the household of the Emperor Diocletian, possibly as a chamberlain or overseer of the imperial palace. A Christian himself, he sheltered fellow Christians in the palace and led them to safe places to worship. He also converted a number of pagans, including his wife Irene. He was eventually denounced by a Christian who apostatized under torture. Castulus was seized, tortured, and buried alive at Rome on March 26, 286 AD. A catacomb on the Via Labicana in Rome bears his name and was a place of early pilgrimage.
