Saint Carpus
Saint Carpus (died c. 170 AD in Pergamon, Asia Minor) was a Bishop of Thyatira in Asia Minor who was martyred together with Papylus (a deacon), Agathodora (a woman), and Agathonicus. He is mentioned in the Martyrdom of Carpus, Papylus, and Agathonicê, one of the earliest authentic martyr acts from the 2nd century. His feast day is April 13.

Biography
Saint Carpus was the Bishop of Thyatira (one of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse) in the second century. The Martyrdom of Carpus, Papylus, and Agathonicê is one of the earliest preserved accounts of Christian martyrdom in Asia Minor. According to the text, Carpus and Papylus (a deacon from Thyatira) were arrested, interrogated, and repeatedly ordered to sacrifice to the Roman gods. They refused. Carpus declared, "I am a Christian, and by saying 'I am a Christian' I am saying that I possess a great honor." They were burned alive in the amphitheater at Pergamon, around 170 AD. A woman named Agathonicê, moved by their example, also declared herself and died with them.
He is commemorated on April 13 in the Roman Martyrology and October 13 in the Eastern Orthodox calendar.
