Saint Brendan of Birr
Saint Brendan of Birr (died November 29, 573 AD at Birr, County Offaly, Ireland) was an Irish abbot and monastic founder, a contemporary and close friend of Saint Columba of Iona, and is sometimes distinguished in the Irish tradition as the "chief of the prophets of Ireland." He is distinct from the more famous Saint Brendan of Clonfert (the Navigator). He founded the monastery at Birr in County Offaly. His feast day is November 29.

Biography
Brendan of Birr was a leading figure among the Irish saints of the sixth century. He founded the monastery at Birr in County Offaly and was known for gifts of prophecy—hence his designation in the tradition as "chief of the prophets of Ireland." He was a companion of Saint Columba of Iona, and is associated with the group of twelve apostles of Ireland who studied under Saint Finian of Clonard. The Irish annals record him as dying on November 29, 573 AD.
He is venerated separately from Saint Brendan of Clonfert (the Navigator), who died slightly later (577 AD), and the two saints were known to the medieval tradition as distinct figures despite sharing the same name.
