Saint Bosa of York
Saint Bosa of York (died March 9, 705 AD in York, Northumbria, England) was an Anglo-Saxon monk of Whitby Abbey who served as Bishop of York twice: first from 678 to 686 AD (when Saint Wilfrid was in exile), and again from 691 to 705 AD (when Wilfrid was again in exile). He is described by the Venerable Bede as a man of great holiness. His feast day is March 9.

Biography
Bosa was educated as a monk at Whitby Abbey under its famous abbess Saint Hilda, the foundress who presided over the Synod of Whitby (664 AD). He was appointed Bishop of York in 678 AD when King Ecgfrith of Northumbria expelled Saint Wilfrid from the see in a political dispute. Bosa governed York faithfully for eight years until Wilfrid's return.
When Wilfrid was again expelled in 691 AD, Bosa resumed the bishopric and held it until his death on March 9, 705 AD. Bede, who knew of him through oral tradition at Wearmouth-Jarrow, describes him as "a man beloved of God, of great humility and holiness of life." He consecrated Saint John of Beverley (another major Northumbrian saint) as bishop during his tenure.
