Saint Bartholomew Buonpedoni
Saint Bartholomew Buonpedoni (also known as Bartholomew of Cervere or Bartholomew of San Gimignano; born c. 1227 AD in Mucchio, near San Gimignano, Tuscany, Italy; died December 14, 1300 AD in Poggibonsi, Tuscany) was an Italian diocesan priest and Franciscan tertiary who spent the last twenty years of his life suffering from leprosy, which he bore with heroic patience as a participation in the Cross of Christ. He was known throughout Tuscany for his holiness, his charitable work among the poor and sick, and his remarkable perseverance in suffering. He was beatified in 1910 by Pope Pius X. His feast day is December 14.

Biography
Bartholomew was born around 1227 near San Gimignano in Tuscany. He was ordained a diocesan priest and served in parishes in the Volterra diocese. He became a member of the Franciscan Third Order and was known for his pastoral zeal and charity toward the poor and sick.
Around 1280, Bartholomew contracted leprosy. Rather than withdrawing from life, he continued to minister as long as he was able, and when illness finally confined him, he embraced his suffering with extraordinary patience and joy. He is said to have befriended another leper saint, Vivaldus (or Ubaldo), with whom he shared years of suffering in Poggibonsi, the two encouraging each other in patience and prayer.
He died on December 14, 1300. He was beatified by Pope Pius X in 1910.
