Litany for Those with Regrets over IVF
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
hear us.
From the heavy burden of regret and self-condemnation,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From guilt over past decisions made in desperation and hope,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From grief for every embryo lost, frozen, or never given a chance at life,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the fear that we have offended Your will beyond repair,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From shame that makes us hide from Your mercy,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From bitterness toward ourselves, our spouses, or the medical path we once chose,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
That we may entrust every child of ours — conceived, lost, or waiting in the freezer — to Your infinite mercy,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may accept Your forgiveness and begin again in hope,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may offer our regret and sorrow as a living sacrifice of reparation and trust,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That our marriage may be healed and renewed through honest sorrow and God’s tender mercy,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may surrender all remaining embryos and future plans completely into Your hands,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may walk forward in peace, open to the path of life and love You now invite us to follow,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That in our brokenness and regret we may become a compassionate witness and support to others who carry similar wounds,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
O Mary, Refuge of Sinners and Mother of Mercy, pray for all who regret choices made in the pursuit of children.
St. Joseph, guardian of the Holy Family, pray for us.
St. Faustina Kowalska, apostle of Divine Mercy, pray for us.
St. Gianna Molla, pray for us.
All Holy Innocents, pray for us.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, You who are rich in mercy and who never despise a contrite heart, look with compassion on those burdened by regrets over IVF. Forgive what was done in ignorance or desperation, heal the wounds of loss and remorse, and draw us gently back into the embrace of Your love. Grant us the grace to trust that no sorrow is beyond Your redemption and that every child entrusted to us — born or unborn — rests safely in Your care.
Through the intercession of the Holy Family, help us to desire only what You desire, and to live the rest of our lives in joyful trust in Your Providence. Amen.
