Litany for Those Who Have Experienced Ectopic Pregnancy
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
hear us.
From the shock and trauma of this sudden loss,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From all guilt and the lie that our body failed us or failed our child,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From bitterness toward our own bodies or toward medical decisions we had to make,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From fear of ever becoming pregnant again,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From despair that makes us question Your protection and love,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the temptation to harden our hearts against hope and new life,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
That we may entrust our little one, lost through ectopic pregnancy, to Your tender mercy in heaven,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may find healing for both body and soul in the wounds of Your Passion,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may accept this cross as a mysterious sharing in Your redemptive suffering,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That our marriage may grow in tenderness, unity, and trust through this sorrow,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may cherish the brief gift of this child’s life, however short its time with us,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may offer every tear, every scar, and every fear as a living sacrifice of love,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That in our woundedness we may become a compassionate light and comfort to others facing ectopic pregnancy,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
O Mary, Mother of Sorrows, who knows the pain of losing a child, pray for all who grieve an ectopic loss.
St. Joseph, protector of the unborn, pray for us.
St. Gerard Majella, patron of expectant mothers, pray for us.
St. Anne and St. Joachim, pray for us.
All Holy Innocents, pray for us.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, You who formed each life in the womb and who holds our tiny one in Your arms, comfort us in the pain of ectopic pregnancy. Heal the physical wounds, soothe the emotional trauma, and restore hope in our hearts. Grant that the brief life of our child may bear eternal fruit and that we may one day rejoice together in the glory of Your Kingdom.
Through the intercession of the Holy Family, help us to desire only what You desire, trusting in Your gentle Providence even in this hidden cross. Amen.
