Litany for Those Experiencing Infertility
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
hear us.
From the deep ache of longing for a child we cannot seem to have,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From envying families who conceive and raise children with ease,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the monthly cycle of hope and heartbreak that wears down our spirits,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the temptation to doubt Your love or question Your Providence,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From bitterness toward our bodies, each other, or God Himself,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the fear that our lives or our marriage will remain forever incomplete,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
That we may entrust our unfulfilled desire for children entirely to Your loving hands,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may find peace and fruitfulness in the vocation of marriage even without biological children,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That our longing may become a powerful prayer and a school of trust in Your perfect will,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That our marriage may grow in tender love, unity, and sacrificial charity through this cross,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may remain generously open to life in whatever form You choose to send it,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may offer every tear, every test, and every unanswered prayer as a living sacrifice,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That in our infertility we may become a radiant witness of hope and consolation to other couples who suffer likewise,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
O Mary, Mother of Hope and Patroness of the Unborn, pray for all couples facing infertility.
St. Joseph, protector of the Holy Family and guardian of the childless, pray for us.
St. Anne and St. Joachim, pray for us.
St. Gianna Molla, pray for us.
St. Rita of Cascia, patron of impossible causes, pray for us.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, You who heard the cries of Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, and Elizabeth, look with mercy upon us who carry the cross of infertility. Comfort the deep sorrow in our hearts, strengthen our trust, and make our marriage abundantly fruitful in love and holiness. Whether through the gift of biological children, adoption, foster care, or spiritual parenthood, help us to embrace the unique mission You have prepared for our family.
Through the intercession of the Holy Family, grant us the grace to desire only what You desire, trusting that You make all things fruitful in due season. Amen.
