Litany for Those Experiencing Endometriosis
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
hear us.
From the relentless pain that exhausts body and soul,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From envy of women who do not suffer with every cycle,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From discouragement over scarring, inflammation, and the hidden battle within,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the temptation to despair of ever conceiving or carrying a child,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From bitterness toward our own bodies or toward treatments that bring their own suffering,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
From the fear that this disease will rob us of joy, intimacy, or future hope,
Deliver us, O Jesus.
That we may accept our bodies with compassion and offer every pain as a share in Your Passion,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may trust Your timing and Your perfect plan amid uncertainty and limitation,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That every flare, every surgery, and every hidden tear may draw us closer to You,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may walk this path in unity and tenderness with our spouse,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may remain open to life in whatever holy way You choose to bless us,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That we may offer the chronic cross of endometriosis as a living sacrifice of praise,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
That in our suffering we may become a source of compassion, hope, and support for other women facing endometriosis,
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
O Mary, Health of the Sick and Comforter of the Afflicted, pray for all women burdened by endometriosis.
St. Joseph, protector of families, pray for us.
St. Anne and St. Joachim, pray for us.
St. Gianna Molla, patron of mothers and physicians, pray for us.
St. Lidwina of Schiedam, patron of chronic pain and suffering, pray for us.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, You who bore the weight of all human suffering on the Cross, look with mercy on those who endure endometriosis. Ease our physical pain, heal the wounds visible and invisible, and grant us strength to carry this cross with hope. Make our bodies and souls fruitful in Your eyes, whether through the gift of children or through the spiritual motherhood to which You may call us.
Through the intercession of the Holy Family, grant us the grace to desire only what You desire, trusting that Your grace is sufficient and Your power is made perfect in our weakness. Amen.
