The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist is the mother church of the Diocese of Savannah, standing near Lafayette Square in Savannah, Georgia. Rooted in late-eighteenth-century French and Haitian Catholic immigration, the present French Gothic Revival cathedral was dedicated in 1876. Pope Francis elevated it to a minor basilica in 2020, recognizing its architectural and historical importance in the American South.
