The Cathedral of Saint Thomas More is the mother church of the Diocese of Arlington in Arlington, Virginia. Dedicated to Saint Thomas More—English martyr, statesman, and Doctor of the Church—the modern Gothic Revival cathedral was dedicated on 17 October 1982. The diocese itself was erected by Pope Paul VI on 28 May 1974; until the present building opened, the former Sacred Heart Church served as pro-cathedral.
