Lay organizations

Lay organizations (also called lay apostolates, lay movements, or associations of the faithful) are voluntary groups of mostly lay Catholics who pray, serve, and evangelize in the world. They range from parish confraternities and fraternal societies to international networks of charity and family spirituality, under the guidance of the Church and often with recognition from the Holy See—carrying forward the Second Vatican Council’s call for the laity to sanctify daily life (Lumen gentium).

Saintapedia is building structured pages for these groups (Cargo table LayOrganizations). About 1 organization(s) currently have structured data.

Teams of Our Lady (French: Équipes Notre-Dame) is an international lay apostolate of married couples, founded in 1939 under the inspiration of Father Henri Caffarel. Recognized by the Holy See as an association of the faithful of pontifical right, it helps spouses grow in holiness through small teams, prayer, and conjugal spirituality in and through the Sacrament of Matrimony—present today in dozens of countries worldwide.

Tips

  • Prefer the official English name of the association or movement as the page title.
  • Fill FoundingYear, Founder, OrganizationType, and GeographicScope when known so drilldown filters work.
  • Record VaticanRecognition carefully (e.g. pontifical right, diocesan association, or none).
  • Link related saints, parishes, and dioceses in free text.
  • Set Featured to Yes only for well-developed pages ready for portal highlighting.
