Saintapedia is not only a saints encyclopedia. A large share of recent work has gone into Catholic geography: parishes, dioceses, and the links between people and places.
Building on the January templates
In January we shipped improvements to parish and shrine structure (types and classifications, shrine designation, cleaner infobox links, and related fields). That post is still the technical reference: Portal:Blog/Parish and Shrine Template Updates (January 2026).
What has grown since
Since then, parish articles and Cargo rows have continued to expand—well into the thousands of structured records—with ongoing batches for U.S. dioceses. The aim is a usable layer for readers and maps:
- Find a parish and see its diocese and place context
- Connect saints and Footprints tours to real churches
- Feed Special:Nearby and other geography tools
Counts move every week as pages are generated and refined. Treat any single number as scale, not a frozen census.
Why it matters
A feast day or biography is easier to live with when you can also ask: where is this faith on the ground near me—or near the saint’s own story? Parish coverage is how Saintapedia answers that.
