Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary is a Roman Catholic seminary in Denton, Nebraska, operated by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right dedicated to the traditional Latin liturgy according to the 1962 liturgical books. Founded in 1993 as the FSSP's first seminary in the United States, it is named for Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, and currently forms over 75 men for the priesthood.
History
The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) was canonically erected as a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right by Pope St. John Paul II in 1988, with a charism of offering the Sacred Liturgy and Sacraments according to the traditional Latin liturgical books of 1962. The FSSP's first seminary, St. Peter's Seminary, was established in Wigratzbad, Germany. Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, named for the Patroness of the Americas, was opened by the FSSP in the United States in 1993 as its second seminary, and enrollment has grown steadily since.
Campus and Formation
The seminary is located at 7880 West Denton Road, Denton, Nebraska. Formation is organized around distinct stages for philosophy and theology students, with a Dean of Men for Philosophers and a separate Dean of Men for Theologians overseeing seminarian life at each stage.
Academics
Coursework at the seminary, as reflected in its faculty assignments, includes Dogmatic Theology, Moral Theology, Pastoral Theology, Canon Law, Latin, Greek, Patristics, Sacred Scripture (Exegesis), Church History, Philosophy, Spirituality, and Sacred Music/Chant.
Current Status
The seminary currently houses over 75 men studying for the priesthood. In 2026, twelve priests formed at the seminary were scheduled to be ordained on May 28th at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska.
