Establishment
The Diocese of Nueve de Julio was erected on 11 February 1957 by Pope Pius XII to serve the growing Catholic population in western Buenos Aires Province.

The diocese was created by dividing territory from the Diocese of Azul and the then-Diocese of Mercedes. It has focused on ministry to rural and agricultural communities since its founding.
