Establishment
The Diocese of Montego Bay was established on 29 April 1997 by Pope John Paul II through the apostolic constitution "Ad aptius consulendum," carved from territory previously belonging to the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica to better serve the expanding Catholic faithful in western Jamaica.
