Establishment
The Diocese of Caruaru was erected on 7 November 1948 by Pope Pius XII through the bull Quo Aptius, carved from territory previously belonging to the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife to better serve the growing Catholic communities in the interior of Pernambuco.
