Establishment
The Diocese of Campo Mourão was established on 20 December 1976 by Pope Paul VI to serve the growing Catholic population in western Paraná, with territory taken from the Diocese of Maringá and the Diocese of Toledo.
History
The diocese was created amid the expansion of the Catholic Church in southern Brazil during the late twentieth century. Its territory has remained stable since erection, focusing on pastoral care in rural and urban communities of Paraná.
Geography
The diocese covers municipalities in western Paraná, including Campo Mourão and surrounding areas. It belongs to the Ecclesiastical Province of Maringá.
