Establishment
The Diocese of Campo Limpo was established on 15 March 1989 by Pope John Paul II through the apostolic constitution "Quandoquidem Ipsius", carved from the territory of the Archdiocese of São Paulo to serve the southwestern region of the city and surrounding areas.
History
The diocese was created in response to the rapid urbanization and population growth in the Campo Limpo region during the late twentieth century. Its territory includes numerous neighborhoods in the southern and western zones of São Paulo, where the Church has focused on evangelization, social outreach, and community building.

The diocese covers the Campo Limpo, Capão Redondo, Jardim Ângela, and adjacent districts in the municipality of São Paulo, as well as parts of the neighboring municipalities of Taboão da Serra and Embu das Artes.
