The Gloria L. and Charles I. Clough School of Theology and Ministry (CSTM) is a graduate school of theology and ministry at Boston College, located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Rooted in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition, it prepares ministers, scholars, and leaders to serve the Church and the world, and its faculty has been described as the largest theology faculty in the United States.
Campus and Formation
CSTM is based in Simboli Hall at 9 Lake Street in Brighton, Massachusetts, which the school describes as its "hilltop home."
Academics
CSTM offers master's programs including the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.), M.A. in Theology and Ministry (offered in both traditional and hybrid formats), and Master of Theology (Th.M.), along with dual-degree options. Doctoral study is available through the Ph.D. in Theology and Education. Current Status
CSTM is led by Dean Michael C. McCarthy, S.J. The school reports 71 Boston College theology faculty members, described as the largest theology faculty in the United States. Current initiatives include Haciendo Caminos, a $7.9 million Lilly Endowment grant pursued in partnership with the University of Notre Dame to support graduate theological education for Hispanic Catholics, and Nuevo Momento, a five-year Lilly Endowment-supported initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of 15 ministerial organizations serving Hispanic Catholics.
