Blessed Matthia Dei Nazzarei
Blessed Matthia dei Nazzarei (born about 1252 AD in Matelica, Marche, Italy; died December 28, 1300 AD in Matelica, Italy) was an Italian Poor Clare nun and abbess, of the noble Nazzarei family of Matelica. Renouncing marriage for the cloister, she governed her monastery for many years and was renowned for her prayer, humility, and charity. She is venerated as a Blessed of the Church. Her feast day is December 30.
Choosing the religious life against her family's plans for her marriage, Matthia entered the Poor Clares of Matelica and served long as their abbess. Her cultus was confirmed in the eighteenth century.

Biography
Matthia was born about 1252 at Matelica, in the Marche region of central Italy, a daughter of the noble Nazzarei family. When her family sought to arrange a marriage for her, she resolved instead to give herself wholly to God, and she secretly entered the monastery of the Poor Clares at Matelica, embracing the poverty and enclosure of the order founded by Saint Clare of Assisi.
In the cloister she led a life of prayer, penance, and humble service. Recognized for her holiness and wisdom, she was chosen abbess of the community, an office she is said to have held for many years, guiding her sisters with maternal charity and a firm example of religious observance. Various graces and wonders were attributed to her intercession both during her life and after her death.
Matthia dei Nazzarei died at Matelica on December 28, 1300. She was venerated as a Blessed by the people of the region, and her cultus was confirmed in 1765 during the pontificate of Pope Clement XIII. Her feast is kept on December 30.
