Blessed Marie-Anne Vaillot
Blessed Marie-Anne Vaillot (born May 13, 1734 AD in Fontainebleau, France; died February 1, 1794 AD at Avrillé, Angers, France) was a French Daughter of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul and one of the Martyrs of Angers, put to death during the French Revolution for her fidelity to the Catholic faith. She is venerated as a Blessed and martyr of the Church. Her feast day is February 1.
For many years Sister Marie-Anne served the sick and the poor at Angers. Refusing to abandon her religious vocation or to take an oath rejected by the Church, she was condemned and shot with her companion Odile Baumgarten and many others. She was beatified in 1984 among the Martyrs of Angers.

Biography
Marie-Anne Vaillot was born on May 13, 1734, at Fontainebleau in France. As a young woman she entered the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, a community devoted to the service of the sick and the poor, and she was sent to Angers, where she spent much of her religious life caring for the needy.
During the French Revolution, the persecution of the Church reached Angers with particular violence. Sister Marie-Anne, together with her companion Sister Odile Baumgarten, refused to abandon her religious commitments or to swear the oath demanded of the clergy and religious, which had been condemned by the Church. For this fidelity the two sisters were arrested and condemned to death.
On February 1, 1794, Marie-Anne Vaillot was executed by firing squad at Avrillé, near Angers, with her companion and a great number of other faithful Catholics. She was beatified on February 19, 1984, by Pope John Paul II among the ninety-nine Martyrs of Angers. Her feast is kept on February 1.
