Blessed Maria Teresa Fasce
Blessed Maria Teresa Fasce (born December 27, 1881 AD in Torriglia, Genoa, Italy; died January 18, 1947 AD in Cascia, Umbria, Italy) was an Italian Augustinian nun and abbess of the monastery of Saint Rita in Cascia. She is remembered for renewing her community, for her tireless promotion of devotion to Saint Rita, and for overseeing the building of the great basilica dedicated to that saint. She is venerated as a Blessed of the Church. Her feast day is January 18.
As abbess, Maria Teresa Fasce combined firm governance with maternal charity, opening an orphanage and drawing pilgrims from around the world to Cascia. She was beatified in 1997.

Biography
Maria Teresa Fasce was born on December 27, 1881, at Torriglia in the province of Genoa. Attracted to the Augustinian nuns of Cascia and to the figure of Saint Rita, she entered the monastery of Saint Rita there, professing vows and taking her place in the contemplative community.
Chosen abbess of the monastery, she set herself to renew religious observance and to strengthen the community's spiritual life. She promoted with great energy the devotion to Saint Rita of Cascia, and under her direction the large basilica of Saint Rita was built to receive the growing numbers of pilgrims. She also founded an orphanage for girls, extending the community's charity to the young.
Her later years were marked by serious illness, which she bore with patience and faith. Maria Teresa Fasce died at Cascia on January 18, 1947. She was beatified on October 12, 1997, by Pope John Paul II. Her feast is kept on January 18.
