Blessed Maria Corsini
Blessed Maria Corsini (born June 24, 1884 AD in Florence, Italy; died August 26, 1965 AD in Rome, Italy) was an Italian laywoman, writer, and mother who, with her husband Blessed Luigi Beltrame Quattrocchi, was the first married couple to be beatified together. A wife, mother of four, teacher, and author on family and educational themes, she is honored as a model of holiness lived in marriage and family life. Her feast day is November 25, the anniversary of the couple's wedding.
Maria Corsini and her husband Luigi built a home marked by deep faith, prayer, and charity, from which came priests and a religious. She was active in Catholic associations, wrote and lectured on marriage and education, and cared for the sick in wartime. She was beatified with her husband in 2001.

Biography
Maria Corsini was born on June 24, 1884, at Florence, Italy, and grew up in Rome. She was a cultured and devout young woman, well educated and gifted in writing and teaching. In 1905 she married Luigi Beltrame Quattrocchi, a lawyer, and together they made their home in Rome.
The couple had four children. Their family life was ordered by faith—daily Mass, the Rosary, devotion to the Eucharist and to the Sacred Heart, hospitality, and works of charity. Three of the four children entered the priestly or consecrated life. Maria was a devoted mother who took a deep interest in the Christian formation of her children.
Beyond the home, Maria Corsini was active in the life of the Church and society. She took part in Catholic Action and other associations, worked as a nurse and helped the wounded and refugees during the World Wars, and became known as a writer and lecturer on marriage, motherhood, and the education of children, publishing several books and articles. During a difficult fourth pregnancy she refused, on the advice of doctors to end it, trusting in God; both she and the child lived.
In the later part of their marriage Maria and Luigi, by mutual consent, embraced a life of continence as a further consecration, while remaining devoted spouses. Luigi died in 1951; Maria survived him by fourteen years.
Maria Corsini died at Rome on August 26, 1965. On October 21, 2001, she and her husband Luigi were beatified together by Pope John Paul II—the first married couple beatified as a couple. Their joint feast is kept on November 25, the anniversary of their marriage.
