Blessed Ludwik Gietyngier
Blessed Ludwik Gietyngier (born March 18, 1904 AD in Żarki, Poland; died November 30, 1941 AD in the Dachau concentration camp, Germany) was a Polish Catholic priest of the Diocese of Częstochowa who was murdered in the Dachau concentration camp under the Nazi regime during the Second World War. He is honored among the 108 Blessed Polish Martyrs of the Second World War. His feast day is June 12.
A priest and educator devoted to Catholic youth and to catechesis, Ludwik Gietyngier was arrested by the German occupiers and deported to Dachau, where he died of the sufferings inflicted on the imprisoned Polish clergy. He was beatified in 1999.

Biography
Ludwik Gietyngier was born on March 18, 1904, at Żarki in Poland. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Częstochowa and devoted himself to pastoral work and to the education and religious formation of the young, serving as a teacher and prefect.
When Germany occupied Poland at the outbreak of the Second World War, the Nazi regime carried out a systematic persecution of the Polish Catholic clergy, whom it regarded as leaders of the Polish nation. Great numbers of priests were arrested and sent to concentration camps, especially to Dachau, which held the largest number of imprisoned clergy.
Gietyngier was arrested and deported to Dachau. There, subjected to the brutal conditions imposed on the priest-prisoners, he died on November 30, 1941, a martyr of the faith and of his people.
He was beatified on June 13, 1999, by Pope John Paul II in Warsaw, among the 108 Blessed Polish Martyrs of the Second World War. His feast is kept on June 12.
