Blessed Lucia Broccadelli
Blessed Lucia Broccadelli (also Lucy of Narni; born December 13, 1476 AD in Narni, Umbria, Italy; died November 15, 1544 AD in Ferrara, Italy) was an Italian Dominican tertiary and mystic, famous in her lifetime for the stigmata—the wounds of Christ—which she bore. She is venerated as a Blessed of the Dominican Order. Her feast day is November 15.
Married against her will and later released from the marriage, Lucia entered the Third Order of Saint Dominic and became renowned for her sanctity and mystical gifts. Brought to Ferrara by Duke Ercole d'Este to found a convent, she lived her last decades in obscurity and humble obedience. Her cult was confirmed in 1710.

Biography
Lucia Broccadelli was born on December 13, 1476, at Narni in Umbria, Italy, into a noble family. From childhood she was devoted to prayer and desired to give herself to God. She was, however, given in marriage to a nobleman, Pietro di Alessio. The marriage remained, by her account, virginal; and after conflicts over her religious aspirations, she was eventually able to obtain her freedom to enter religious life.
She joined the Third Order of Saint Dominic. Around 1496, at Viterbo, she is said to have received the stigmata—the visible wounds of the Passion of Christ—an event that was examined and drew wide attention. Her reputation for holiness and mystical gifts became great.
Duke Ercole I d'Este, eager to have so renowned a holy woman in his city, brought Lucia to Ferrara about 1499 and built a Dominican convent for her, of which she became prioress. But after the duke's death her situation changed. Amid conflicts within the community and the fading of the earlier enthusiasm, Lucia was set aside from governance and lived for some forty years in obscurity, humility, and obedience within the convent, largely forgotten by the world.
Lucia Broccadelli died at Ferrara on November 15, 1544. After her death her holiness was again recognized, and her cult was confirmed in 1710 by Pope Clement XI. Her feast is kept on November 15.
