Blessed Josef Dzjidzjov
Blessed Josef Dzjidzjov (Bulgarian: Pavel Djidjov; born July 19, 1919 AD in Plovdiv, Bulgaria; died November 11, 1952 AD in Sofia, Bulgaria) was a Bulgarian Catholic priest of the Augustinians of the Assumption (Assumptionists) who was executed under the communist regime of Bulgaria. He is honored as one of the three Bulgarian Martyrs. His feast day is November 11.
An Assumptionist priest who served as bursar and administrator, Josef Dzjidzjov was arrested during the communist campaign against the Catholic Church, subjected to a show trial in Sofia, and shot together with his fellow Assumptionists Kamen Vitchev and Josaphat Chichkov. He was beatified in 2002.

Biography
Josef Dzjidzjov—better known as Pavel (Paul) Djidjov—was born on July 19, 1919, at Plovdiv in Bulgaria. He entered the Congregation of the Augustinians of the Assumption (the Assumptionists) and was ordained a priest. Gifted in practical affairs, he served his community as bursar and administrator while sharing in its pastoral and educational work among the small Catholic community of Bulgaria.
After the Second World War, the communist government of Bulgaria turned against the Catholic Church, viewing it as a hostile foreign presence. In the early 1950s the state arrested Catholic bishops, priests, and religious and staged trials to destroy the Church.
Djidjov was arrested and, together with other Catholic clergy, tried in Sofia on fabricated charges of espionage and conspiracy against the state. Condemned to death, he was shot on the night of November 11, 1952, together with his fellow Assumptionists Kamen Vitchev and Josaphat Chichkov; the bishop Eugene Bossilkov had been executed shortly before. These are venerated as the Bulgarian Martyrs.
Josef Dzjidzjov (Pavel Djidjov) was beatified on May 26, 2002, by Pope John Paul II during his visit to Plovdiv, together with his two Assumptionist companions. Their feast is kept on November 11.
