Blessed José Trinidad Rangel y Montaño
Blessed José Trinidad Rangel y Montaño (born June 4, 1887 AD in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico; died April 25, 1927 AD near León, Guanajuato, Mexico) was a Mexican Catholic diocesan priest who was martyred during the persecution of the Church under President Plutarco Elías Calles. He was shot together with the Spanish Claretian priest Blessed Andrés Solá Molist and the layman Blessed Leonardo Pérez and is honored among the Martyrs of the Cristero War. His feast day is April 25.
A priest of the Diocese of León, José Trinidad Rangel continued to minister to the faithful in secret after public worship was suppressed. Arrested and accused of aiding the Cristero cause, he was taken from prison and executed at the Rancho de San Joaquín. He was beatified in 2005.

Biography
José Trinidad Rangel y Montaño was born on June 4, 1887, at Dolores Hidalgo in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of León and exercised his ministry in the region during the years of mounting conflict between the Mexican government and the Catholic Church.
Under President Plutarco Elías Calles, the enforcement of the anti-clerical articles of the 1917 Constitution drove priests into hiding and made public worship impossible. Like many of the clergy, Rangel continued to serve the faithful clandestinely, at great personal risk.
He was arrested and imprisoned at León, accused of complicity with the Cristero movement that had risen in defense of religious liberty. On April 25, 1927, he was taken from prison and shot at the Rancho de San Joaquín, together with the Spanish Claretian priest Blessed Andrés Solá Molist and the layman Blessed Leonardo Pérez. All three died professing the faith.
José Trinidad Rangel was beatified on November 20, 2005, by Pope Benedict XVI, among the martyrs of the Mexican persecution. His feast is kept on April 25.
