Blessed John de Montfort
Blessed John de Montfort (born c. 1165 AD in Montfort, Languedoc, France; died May 25, 1177 AD in Acre (Akko), Holy Land (now Israel)) was a French Catholic nobleman and Crusader who died at Acre (Akko) in the Holy Land and was venerated as a martyr and holy man for his crusading faith and his death in the service of the Holy Land. He was beatified by confirmed local cult. His feast day is May 25.

Biography
John de Montfort was born c. 1165 in the Montfort region of Languedoc, France, a member of the powerful Montfort noble family. He traveled to the Holy Land as a Crusader and died at Acre (Akko) on May 25, 1177.
His death in the Holy Land, in the port city of Acre that served as the capital of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem, brought him local veneration as a holy man who died in the service of the faith. He died just ten years before Saladin's conquest of Jerusalem (1187).
He was beatified by confirmed local cult. His feast day is May 25.
