Blessed John Xoun
Blessed John Xoun (also John Shoun; died 17th century AD in Japan) was a Japanese Catholic who was martyred during the Tokugawa persecution of Christians in Japan. He is honored among the Martyrs of Japan. His feast day is September 10, kept with the Japanese martyrs.
John Xoun was among the Japanese faithful who refused to renounce the Christian faith during the suppression of Christianity in the early Tokugawa period and gave their lives for it. He was beatified among the Martyrs of Japan.

Biography
John Xoun was a Japanese Catholic who lived during the Tokugawa shogunate's suppression of Christianity. The Church in Japan, planted by the missions from 1549 onward, had grown greatly before the shogunate set out to destroy it in the early seventeenth century.
In this persecution, many Japanese Christians of every state in life were arrested and put to death. John Xoun was among those who refused to renounce Christ and were martyred for the faith.
He was beatified among the Martyrs of Japan, a number of whom were beatified by Pope Pius IX on July 7, 1867. His feast is kept with the Japanese martyrs on September 10. Detailed records of his individual life are limited, but his witness is honored with that of his fellow martyrs.
