Blessed John Pibush
Blessed John Pibush (born c. 1567 AD in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England; died February 18, 1601 AD in Southwark, London, England) was an English Catholic priest who was executed during the persecution under Queen Elizabeth I. After long years of imprisonment he was hanged, drawn, and quartered for his priesthood. He is honored among the English Martyrs. His feast day is February 18.
A Yorkshireman who studied for the priesthood at Reims, John Pibush returned to England, was repeatedly arrested, and spent much of his priestly life in prison before his martyrdom at Southwark. He was beatified in 1929.

Biography
John Pibush was born about 1567 at Thirsk in Yorkshire, England. Resolving to serve the Church despite the Elizabethan persecution, he went abroad to the English College at Reims, where he was ordained a priest, and returned to England to minister to the Catholics who kept the faith.
Under the penal laws, priests ordained abroad who came into the realm were treated as traitors. Pibush was arrested and spent much of his short priestly life in prison. He was condemned to death but not immediately executed, and he remained a prisoner for years, enduring harsh confinement while never abandoning his faith or his priesthood.
At length the sentence was carried out. On February 18, 1601, John Pibush was hanged, drawn, and quartered at Southwark, in London, dying a martyr for the Catholic faith.
He was beatified on December 15, 1929, by Pope Pius XI, among the English Martyrs. His feast is kept on February 18.
