Blessed John Nutter
Blessed John Nutter (born in Burnley, Lancashire, England; died February 12, 1584 AD at Tyburn, London, England) was an English Catholic priest who was executed during the persecution under Queen Elizabeth I. He was one of the priests martyred at Tyburn on that day and is honored among the English Martyrs. His feast day is February 12.
A Lancashire man who studied for the priesthood at Reims, John Nutter returned to minister to English Catholics and was condemned as a seminary priest. He died at Tyburn with three companion priests. He was beatified in 1886. His brother, Blessed Robert Nutter, a Dominican priest, was also martyred for the faith.

Biography
John Nutter was born at Burnley in Lancashire, England, into a Catholic family that would give two martyrs to the Church—John and his brother Robert Nutter, a Dominican priest also martyred under the penal laws.
Determined to serve the Church despite the Elizabethan persecution, John went to the English College at Reims, where he was ordained a priest. He returned to England to minister secretly to the faithful. Under the penal laws, priests ordained abroad who entered the realm were treated as traitors.
Nutter was arrested and condemned. On February 12, 1584, he was hanged, drawn, and quartered at Tyburn, together with the priests Blessed George Haydock, Blessed James Fenn, Blessed Thomas Hemerford, and Blessed John Munden. All died for their priesthood and their fidelity to the Catholic Church.
John Nutter was beatified on December 29, 1886, by Pope Leo XIII, among the English Martyrs. His feast is kept on February 12.
